Aromatherapy Methods

Aromatherapy is one of the oldest forms of combating any type of illnesses during the ancient times relying on the medicinal properties of some plants and spices and from animal by-products. Inhalers are commonly used in treating respiratory problems like coughs, sore throats, and colds. Inhalers are filled with essential oils made into pomade, however there is another aromatherapy method in using inhalers not necessarily those that are produced commercially. For home use, anyone can use any water container filled with steaming water. Two to five drops of essential oil like eucalyptus shall be added. Before inhaling the vapors from the water container, a towel must cover it to protect direct contact of the steam to the skin. Breathing in the aroma from the vapors will help decongest clogged nose and help relieve sore throat, coughs, and colds.

Others can use room diffuser that will help bring in the aroma of the chosen essential oils into the room. This can help alleviate the condition for those who are sick and likewise increase the immunity through inhaling the vapors of the essential oils.

Baths and Soaks

Baths and massage more often than not come side by side with each other. Those spa centers and wellness salons provide these baths and massage. In the bath sessions chosen essential oils are mixed into the water. Others would sprinkle flower petals to complement the ambiance. After the bath an aromatherapy body massage can follow. Using different essential oils or a combination of any can help provide a soothing and relaxing feel. Digestion and Gargling

Aromatherapy methods like compress and gargles are used to treat certain types of illness. Compresses are used with the help of certain essential oils to relieve pains caused by sprain or over exercised muscles. While gargles or mouthwashes using tea tree, lemon, thyme, and sage can help relieve sore throat. Other essential oils like sandalwood, roman chamomile, and geranium can treat inflammation, while the fusion of tea tree and myrrh can help ease mouth ulcers. A chosen essential oil is added to a half-full glass of water with at least 2 drops.

Aromatherapy essential oils are also used in candle making. Moreover to those who own a fireplace in their homes can use a drop of oil into the log just before they are lit. Once the wick of the candle or the log gets burned the scents of the essential oil are released into the air, therefore spreading the aromatics that can help lift the mood. Using lavender essential oil is the aromatherapy treatment for anxiety. Neroli oil is another alternative.

Aromatherapy is truly one of the many ways that help in the maintenance of good health, at least with the purveyors of the holistic. Royalties or not, aromatherapy fits for everyone.
